Lagos-based artist GCN takes listeners on a journey back to his roots with his new EP, Echoes of Home. Born in Ndokwa West, Delta State, and raised in Lagos, GCN’s music reflects the duality of his upbringing, where the rhythms of the city meet the soulful traditions of his hometown. His sound is a nod to the places that shaped him, blending the energy of Lagos with the warmth and nostalgia of Delta’s culture.
Echoes of Home is a five-track project that pays homage to highlife’s rich grooves and Afropop’s infectious beats. Each song is woven with oral traditions, folk instruments, and ancestral melodies, reimagined for today’s audience. From layered percussions to call-and-response chants, the EP immerses listeners in Nigeria’s indigenous soundscape while keeping the dancefloor alive.
“The music is a bridge,” GCN shares. “I wanted to connect where I come from with where I am now. Lagos raised me, but Delta built me. Echoes of Home is about honouring that.”
