Lagos-born rapper JoulesDaKid, who has been honing his craft since his 2010 mixtape and achieved breakthrough success with his 2012 hit “Aunty Dupe,” has teamed up with Major AJ for his latest single, “Fake Love.” This sleek and introspective Afro-fusion track delves into the themes of personal growth, the attainment of success, and the often-insincere reactions from those who only show affection after one has “made it.”
The track opens with JoulesDaKid’s signature swagger: “Back to back sapa / Now it’s back to back Benz’s.” Over moody Afro-fusion production, the duo dissects the fickleness of fame, with Major AJ delivering the hook’s biting truth: “Pick a side, no dey sit up on the fence / If my money finish, will your love still make sense?”
