Ayra Starr took to the X app to express her displeasure following her award announcement by the Headies organisers. Her award for Best Female Artist was announced off-stage, and she was not pleased by the dismissive way in which the presentation was handled.
In a post she put up on X, formerly known as Twitter, Ayra Starr expresses her feelings clearly.
I will never be grateful for winning a category that wasn’t even deemed fit to be announced on stage ! Best female artist na beans ? We work hard, every single one of us ! I’ve seen Tiwa record 4 hit songs in the same night , Tems breaths and lives for music , we didn’t deserve…

After she put up this post, her fans began to react to it. Very many of them agree with her and even the absurdity of no female artist climbing the stage at the awards in Atlanta.
No Nigerian woman artist climbed the Headies 2023 stage to receive a trophy or get any shine at all. And Ayra Starr is right for using her voice and power to call this out publicly. I agree with her. They deserve better.- @joeyakan
True. It just doesn’t make sense that no woman artist received any award on stage. – @abdmut001
She didn’t stutter. She said what she said. Female artists have put in solid work too and have invested their time and energy into their craft. These award organizers should stop with the disrespect and celebrate them accordingly.-@therealdaddymo1
